Secret Recipe's Irish Lamb Stew - KK

Posted by Superman on Wednesday, July 1, 2009

I am starving at night and no idea what to eat as in the afternoon, me and my wife just had ice cream and egg tart only. We walk around Warisan Square and my wife suggested we go for Secret Recipe as she misses the cheese cake of Secret Recipe since our last trip to Kuching. Sibu don't have any Secret Recipe and I hope there will be one soon as Kuching is getting more. I think it will have a good potential over here as more and more youngsters going for Western Food instead of kopitiam all the time now. The Italian Coffee in Pedada has nice cheese cake if you ask me any nice cheese cake in Sibu or not. Will do a post on it next time I visit there again. Only been there once in May for coffee and cheese cake.
The Secret Recipe in Warisan Square is a two storey shop. We choose to sit at the first floor as it will be quiet for us to enjoy our dinner peacefully as no many people walking around like ground floor.

My wife took this photo as she said the staircase handles are overlapping as see from the place we sit. It is complicated and so many bends just like the life of everyone of us.

The ice lemon tea that I ordered. This ice lemon tea served in Secret Recipe is really nice and sour. They really put a lot of fresh lemon juice in it. Feel refreshed after a big sip.

My wife ordered the Cheezy Choc as she like cheese cake and chocolate. This is the best combination for her. This Cheezy Choc is soft chocolate mixed with baked cheese and with a biscuit base. The cheese is so creamy and the chocolate taste is so great. The cheese melted in your mouth once you put it in your mouth. The creamy and tasty cheese which is sticky in your mouth will make you shout for more cheese. The biscuit base is crunchy with the nice taste of nuts.

The Cordon Blue Chicken that my wife ordered. The chicken taste great and not too dry which is good. Many deep fried chickens always too dry and make the chicken meat to plain and not saucy enough. This one in Secret Recipe is just well fried while preserved the liquid in the chicken meat. One thing not so perfect is that the sauce and cream is a bit too little for the big chunk of chicken and fries. My wife doesn't like the onion ring and I helped her to finish it all. I like to eat onion and it is very good for health. But the smell of it is awful after eating it. Better don't eat this if you are going on a date. :)

The highly recommended Irish Lamb Stew! This is the best lamb stew I had so far. No other place can beat this so far for me. The lamb is really so nicely cooked in the fantastic gravy. The lamb is so tasty and I really like it very much. The meat absorbed all the great taste and fragrance of the spices used to cook it. The meat is so tender and I can tell you that even a 90 years old folk can eat it. The lamb is for everyone as it does not have a strong smell of lamb but only a great taste of lamb stew! You must try this if you go to Secret Recipe!

This bun came with the Irish Lamb Stew. It is so nice to dip in the gravy of the Irish Lamb Stew! I finished every drops of the gravy and ask for more!

for me, the lamb stew is just average or below my expectation. I tried once and thats it. It did not have any lamb taste at all. It tasted more like pork actually.

I have to stop eating lamb for a while.

You wife's viewpoint on the staircase handles is very unique :o). By that I mean she relates it to our daily life.

The cheesy choc cake makes me drool. Yummy!

I used to go Secret Recipe last time, but nowadays I find that their quality had dropped. They used to have the best cheese cakes in town.

But I can't comment on the Secret Recipe in KK, although I think they should all be the same.

borneo falcon - I think the food over there is nice but I just read some negative comments from my comment columns from other readers. But I still recommend it anyway as it is just nice for me.

anonymous - then your expectation is sure very high. That lamb stew I had in KK is really nice. If you can introduce me to a better one, I will be glad. I just love lamb. :)

willie - what happen? too much lamb?

ai shiang - she is a sentimental type of girl. always do things according to feeling. She always said I am not sensitive and not sentiment at all. She said I am those 1+1=2 type of people. Hehe.

foongpc - Maybe it is really something wrong with their quality control somewhere. I guess maybe recently the economy is bad and less people go and eat. The cake will be selling for second day and thus the taste will not be so nice.

mei teng - haha. the look at it just like orange juice. they really generous with the lemon juice and slice. the taste is really nice.

bengbeng - can give it a try at the cheese cake but I will not recommend the lemon cheese cake. really not very nice. You are a healthy person as red meat is not really good for health.

merryn - yup, the bun and the stew really great. It will be great if have another bun at that time. :P

Oooo....I love their Irish lamb stew (but second to Junk's lamb shank - Kuching). The Chinese one at Mom's (Lau-tee-fang) in Sibu is NOTHING in comparison...and I hear a lot of Sibu people are crazy over it. Ah well! Beggars can't be choosers!

The outlet look nice. The Secret Recipes outlets I've been to were all on one floor and were waaaay too crowded.

suituapui - Give me five! I think it is really nice. Then next time I need to try the Junk's lamb shank in Kuching. I trust your recommendation. Sibu really don't have much choices...

amycheah - I tried that before too. Nice!

lina - Yup, this one is nice and double storey one. Special. That's why I choose to sit on the first floor.

ayie - the cordon blue is nice also at secret recipe. can give it a try.

previously the lamb stew was less than RM20.
now almost RM30 liao. aiyo .. SR really really cashing it in lah!

but thankfully they offer sets at RM15 now. though the quality of the food is compromised somehow.

Ayie said...

no secret recipe here =(

j2kfm - I didn't know that. That's cheap and definitely worth the price if it is under RM20. I guess the lamb stew become more and more popular and it is time for SR to make more out of it.

ayie - Same here over in Sibu. Only can find in Miri and Kuching.
